Baby J. doesn't watch TV yet (we try to keep her away from the mind numbing device), but we do have her watch some Sesame Street videos, usually the songs they did on the show. It's amazing how these songs and these muppets can so captivate her. She becomes frozen while watching it, as if the entire world save for Sesame Street has completely vanished. Her favorite Sesame Street song (in my opinion), is "Monster in the Mirror" sung by Grover. There's something about that Grover, maybe it's his voice or the way he looks, but Baby J. absolutely loves him. Sesame Street has become dominated by Elmo during the last decade, and I've never been a fan (I guess I'm too old school Sesame Street to like him), but I'm glad that Baby J. for whatever reason seems more drawn to the old videos and the old characters than the gimmicky Elmo stuff.
So, I read today that it's Sesame Street's 40th Birthday. That's pretty amazing. It's great to have a show that has survived through so many generations, a show I can share with my little one, as she grows up.
