Husband and Wife Day
After being in a stuffy house on Thanksgiving, we took Baby J. out to a local museum. It was better than Black Friday shopping, and it was certainly a lot less crowded.
My wife and I have come to the realization that we don't focus on one another enough. It's easy to do. You focus so much on the baby, and even after the baby is asleep, you kind of forget to take care of each other. You can be so exhausted after a full day with the baby. You really don't want to sit down and pamper your wife, but at the same time, you feel as though you should be pampered.
So, we've decided in the same way I get a daddy daughter day, Baby J. should have a designated grandma day at least once a month (to the absolute delight of grandma), and my wife and I can have our own day. I'm sure the day will largely be spent talking about the baby, but what can you do? The last real day we had like that was our anniversary this last July. We spent a couple hours just talking about our favorite moments together as a couple; it was a lot of fun reminiscing.
I recommend everyone have a day like this. It's so easy to forget how important your spouse is. You get used to his/her presence, and you take for granted everything he/she does.
