naptime poetry

Sometimes, when I'm getting Baby J. to sleep I sing to her. Other times, I kind of write a poem on the spot:

There's no one else I'd rather see,
there's no one else I'd wish you'd be.
I close my eyes and dream of you,
there's nothing else I'd rather do.
With each and every passing day,
I love you more in every way.

You’re the Best, I confess

I thought I'd share a poem I wrote to Baby J's mommy as if it was written from Baby J. herself.

Though I scream and I fuss and I make you insane--
Though I cry and I yell and I often complain--
I love you, I need you, you're my mommy, it's true,
you're the best, I confess, there's no better than you.

Though I pout and I whimper when you fall asleep,
until you're so drained that you give in and weep,
I'm so lucky you're mine, I just thought you should know--
you, I love, from your nose to your biggest big toe.

Though I whine and I screech and I squeal in your ear
until you're convinced I'm a pain in the rear,
I'm so happy to know that you won't go away,
you're my mom, I love you, have a wonderful day.
